Our Cattle

Each animal that is selected for harvest at The Niehus Ranch is a home-raised calf. Nate and Susie have spent their entire careers working to fine-tune the genetics of their animals to provide a consistently tender and delicious product. 


In addition to a superior breeding program, each animal spends over 100 days on full feed, along with quality grass pasture and fresh, clean water. Cattle will consume over 2,000 pounds of feed before being harvested.

Beef Price

All cattle raised on The Niehus Ranch sell by the pound. This price is based on the animal's hanging carcass weight (Another term for carass weight is "rail weight.") Cattle are weighed on the day they are delivered to the butcher. The day you reserve a harvest spot, you lock in the current market price of the animal. Processing costs are paid directly to the butcher. This amount is based on the hanging weight, as well. All price quotes are based off of the COMBINED costs (the price of the animal and the cost for butchering vacuum sealed packaging).
