A Barn Fire

June 29, 2020 was hard. A 4am wake-up call came in notifying us that our neighbors horse barn had burned. Nate immediately went over. I showed up at 6am with medicine for an injured horse and when I stepped out of my truck the smell of burnt hair nearly knocked me down.

As I rushed my friend Kim Bryant and one of her badly burned horses to the vet, a million things went through my mind. I cringed at EVERY bump in the road thinking of the hurt horse in the trailer. I heard her detailed rendition of how the morning had unfolded and we both cried as she explained that more horses could have been saved if they would have just let her lead them out of their inflamed stalls.

And that’s when it hit me... how many of us are just like those horses?! We know the world around us is falling apart. We are scared. We are injured. Yet, we are afraid to put our trust in the one reaching for us. We hesitate to follow the voice of the Good Shepherd. In the process, we experience more agony because of our hesitation.

Yesterday was hard, but it could have been so much worse. If Jim or Kim wouldn’t have made it out of the barn this post would be much different. Life on this earth is temporary and while some days it may feel like trying to survive navigating a burning building, we ALL have a Heavenly Father who wants to guide and direct us... who offers us grace when we don’t deserve it and who deeply desires a relationship with us. If you don’t know my Jesus... message me, call me, show up at my house... let me introduce you!

Keep praying for my neighbors at Bryant Ranch as they care for injured animals and begin the task of cleaning up and rebuilding.
