The Niehus Ranch is tucked in the hills of Northeast Oklahoma with a birds-eye-view of Grand Lake. Drowning Creek runs through the property and feeds directly into the lake. Cattle are graized on native grasses and hay is also bailed directly off of the ranch. Nate and Susie Niehus are a husband and wife team of cattle ranchers. Nate is an avid hunter and fisherman and has been known to pick up a basketball from time to time. Susie loves training and riding Registered Quarter Horses. She is also a full-time minister at First Christian Church in Grove, OK. The couple has built their business based on the principles found in their Christian faith. Nate and Susie have two children and feel incredibly blessed to be raising their kiddos, surrounded by an industry they love!
No two days on the ranch seem to be the same, but for the most part, Nate oversees the day to day handling of the cattle. Nate will tell you that he can't imagine working in an office and prefers the view from the feed-truck. Susie's Ag. Business degree from Southern Arkansas Univeristy, Masters of Leadership degree from John Brown University, and years spent growing up in the beef industry make her an easy fit for taking care of the ranch office. The Niehus kids also play an active role in caring for the cattle. Susie is quick to point out that their son knows each individual cow by her ear tag number... something she's still working on!
